Respite care is taking a short break from caregiving duties, and it allows the caregiver an opportunity to rest, refresh, and recharge.
Even though many families take great joy in providing care to their loved ones so that they can remain at home, the physical, emotional and financial responsibilities for the family caregiver can be overwhelming without some support, such as respite. Respite provides a much needed temporary break from the challenges faced by the primary family caregiver. Respite can also benefit the Incredible Kid by providing social interaction, a break in their daily routine and an opportunity for new relationships.
Who We Work With
Mission Respite has a contract with the Dane, Waukesha, Rock, La Crosse, Columbia and Racine Counties Department of Human Services to provide respite care to children who are eligible for the CLTS waiver. The CLTS waiver is available to children and youth under the age of 22 who have a diagnosis of an intellectual and/or developmental disability, physical disability, and/or mental health disability.
